Sri Lanka Wedding Photographer

As a wedding photographer I have to say that some of the most memorable weddings I have photographed are Sri Lankan weddings.

They are always very colorful and joyful celebrations.

Within Sri Lanka you will find many faiths including; Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, and Muslim.

Most Sri Lankan weddings have some common elements unique to the culture.

During the ceremony a tray holding the marriage necklace or Thali, and the Koorai (wedding Sari) is passed around to the guests to be blessed

The bride usually wears a stunning viel of gold with either her Sari or Western style Dress (Christian).

The groom ties the wedding necklace (Thali) around the Bride’s neck signifying they are now married.

A very important moment in the ceremony, the music grows louder, with live drummers and horn blowers, quite an exciting moment,

and then the guests stand and throw flowers at the newly married couple to wish them a happy life together.

If your thinking of having your wedding in Sri Lanka, you can’t go wrong.  Sri Lanka offers some of the most beautiful beaches, and top 5 star resorts

to host your wedding, such as the Taj Exotica in Bentota.
