A Christian Wedding in Kerala

Kerala, also known as “Gods own Country” is lush and beautiful.  The perfect place for a Simone and George’s Christian wedding. I can see why finding a  Kerala wedding photographer to capture all the beauty of this paradise was so important to them.  Unlike Goa, Kerala is still fairly unspoiled by tourism.

Simone and George live in the London,  and have family and friends from all over the world. It made perfect sense to have a wedding in Cochin, George’s Hometown, and a reception in Toronto, Simone’s hometown. It all started with a pre wedding day photo session at the Brunton Boatyard Hotel in Fort Cochin.

The wedding day started off with a traditional South Indian Christian ceremony at The Little Flower Church in Ernakulam, followed by a lunch reception at the Ramada Resort in Cochin.  They were escorted into the reception with a procession of Dhol Drummers. Finally a beautiful sunset boat cruise on the backwaters of Cochin Harbor, and a cocktail reception on a private Island at Bulgatti Palace.

The next morning I went with the entire bridal party to the Thrissur Pooram Festival. A colorful festival in Kerala celebrated once a year with processions of 50 richly caparisoned elephants. Usually accompanied by a percussion ensemble, and men carrying beautiful hand crafted parasols. I was so fortunate to be there for this incredible event, What an experience! Two months later the celebrations continued with a reception in Toronto.

It was such a great experience being part of their families wedding events. I am so honored that they chose me be there Kerala wedding photographer, and to document both events in Cochin and Toronto.

Congratulations Simone and George!

Here are a few of my favorite photos from both events.
